Saturday the 7th of September, the 75th edition of the Proms came to an end. A real musical marathon that does England proud.
Concerts are held mostly in the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, a circular building built to fulfill the desire of Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria of England, to create an area in London dedicated to bringing arts and science to the big public. That desire was fulfilled with the construction of the National History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum, one of my favorites in London due to the didactic approach towards their heritage.
The Royal Albert Hall was initially built as The Central Hall of Arts and Sciences, but Queen Victoria wanted to change the name to commemorate her husband. He most certainly is commemorated, as in front of the main façade stands a monument with a statue…
